Transitional Tips for New Catalog

FAQ for some common concerns:

How do I connect to a journal when it is listed as being an Online Resource (or Electronic Resource)?

Click on the journal title to display the Full View of the record (or click on the Back button, if you are at the Call Number screen). Scroll to near the bottom of the record where the heading “Link to Online” appears. Click on the link associated with Mount Holyoke.

Where is the button to request a book from one of the Five College libraries?

The button can be found only on the Full View record display. If you are on the Search Results screen, click on the title of the book that you wish to request to take you to the Full View record. The “Request Item” button is near the top of the record. If you are on the Call Numbers and Availability screen, you will need to click on the Back button to return to the Full View display.

Why is the catalog not allowing me to request a work from one of the Five College libraries that I really need?

First, we apologize for this inconvenience.  Due to a technical problem, the Request Item feature is not working consistently at present (December 2006).  If you have not received your item within 72 hours; or, if you are being denied requests -- for works other than art books, DVD’s, CD’s and rare books, as these don't circulate -- please ask one of the staff at our Circulation Desk for assistance.

How do I renew a book online?

At any place in the catalog, click on My Account which is located on the black bar near the top of the screen. Sign in by using the bar code number located on the back of your Mount Holyoke ID. Click on the appropriate entry on the row labeled Loans.

How can I learn more?

There are some quick tutorials for basic catalog functions as well as some webpages explaining our borrowing and interlibrary loan services available on the LITS website.
