More Info About Reserving the LRC
The Language Resource Center is a space for learning, teaching, sharing and exploring languages and cultures. We encourage any groups that are involved in culture- or language-related activities to consider reserving the LRC. For example, we love to host language teas, conversation groups, study sessions, cultural events, etc.
To maintain the LRC as an inviting space for all of us, please use common courtesy and observe the following guidelines:
If there is food at your event:
- Consider using a tablecloth to protect any tables holding food.
- Wipe down all table surfaces (particularly if you do not use a tablecloth). Multipurpose cleaner and paper towels can be found in Room 5 in the cabinet underneath the microwave.
- You are welcome to use the microwave oven and refrigerator in Room 5, but please cover food while microwaving, wipe up any spills, and don’t forget to take your leftovers with you.
- Try to collect all food garbage in one can. When your event is over, remove the garbage bag from this can and place it in the large bin in the Trash Room (second door on left as you exit the LRC). Place a new liner bag in the can you emptied.
- Use the vacuum cleaner (stored in Room 5) to pick up crumbs, etc.
- Notify the LRC staff if there are any spills on the carpet or upholstery.
The furniture in the LRC Lounge can be moved easily to accommodate many types of activities; for example, small group conversations or a salsa dance lesson. If you’d like to move the furniture, please return it to its original position after your event.
If your event involves audio or video and you haven’t reserved the space in advance, please be considerate of any students studying in the LRC. Also, you may want to check with the LRC about peak/off-peak study times before scheduling your event.
To reserve the LRC, please email (lrc@mtholyoke.edu) or call (x3513 or x2408). You are also welcome to drop in and use the facilities at any time that they are open, but you may want to make a reservation to guarantee availability, and also to avoid potential conflicts (e.g., loud video in the lounge concurrent with oral testing in the lab, etc.).
