LITS Annual Report  2003-2004

Media resources continues to refine its operation. This last year the department has seen staffing changes as well as a staff reduction of thirty percent. The department is currently very lean and maybe a bit too small to allow for special project and instrumentation support. This concern will be addressed as necessary this fall.

During this time period we have seen an increase in the service requests. Last year the department installed ten new classrooms. This summer alone, we will be installing ten systems. Summer conference requests increased from 15 requests last year to 45 this year. Training sessions rose from 62 to 238. Trouble calls also increased from a high of ten last year to 100 this year. This increase in service requests was due to the virus problems with the computers last year and a couple of system hardware failures.

The video collection was moved out the of media office and into the area that was used by reserves for storage. Procedures for the circulation of equipment are also being tweaked and redefined. We have developed a 24-hour loan rule to allow more users to obtain equipment.

Once again we saw a reduction in 16mm film requests. This last year there were 20 requests down from over thirty the previous year.

The Tandberg videoconference equipment was moved from 610 to 231 in the Library. This move will allow for increased security as well as the ability to offer better support to the users.
