FIAF: International FilmArchive Database The International FilmArchive Database is published by the International Federation of Film Archives (FIAF) and contains several databases, including: the International Index to Film Periodicals, the International Index to Television Periodicals, the Treasures from the Film Archives, the Bibliography of FIAF Members Publications and the International Directory of Film and TV Documentation Collections. The main database, the International Index to Film Periodicals, contains over 230,000 article references from more than 300 periodicals. The database, which cumulates citations from the annual printed volume, offers in-depth coverage of academic and popular film journals from 1972 to the present. The International Index to Television Periodicals includes almost 50,000 article references from 1979 to the present. The Treasures from the Film Archives provides filmographic and holdings information on over 35,000 works, including silent shorts and features, fiction and non-fiction, in over 90 international film archives. Humanities Abstracts (1984-) LexisNexis (coverage varies by publication; generally available for the past ten years). Lexis Nexis provides searchable full text for newspapers, some magazines and some radio and television transcripts. In order to find film reviews from a variety of publications, you will need to do separate searches within different sections of the database: For reviews from twenty top newspapers in the arts, choose "Guided News Search," then the category "Arts & Sports News" and then the News Source "Movie Reviews" or "Entertainment News" To check which publications are included in these searches, click the "Source List" button. Resources The Internet Movie Database: Comprehensive database of film titles, provides filmographies for directors, actors and others, with summaries, cast and crew lists, production information and more. The Institut Lumière FilmSound.org: "Dedicated to the art and analysis of film sound design." Includes a glossary, sound questions and answers, an introduction to film sound, a film sound history, and articles. Internet Archive's Moving Images Archive: Collections of digitized movies, commercials, interviews, short films, and animation.
