Suggested databases to search for articles on your topic

  • Philosophers Index - the core resource for scholarly articles in philosophy journals
    • Available online from 1940-present
    • Also available in printed form; volumes back to 1967/68 in periodicals stacks (level 2 1/2)
  • JSTOR: Philosophy titles - major philosophy journals in full text format
    • NOT current - these are the historical back issues, usually more than 4 years old.
  • BioEthics - a subset of Medline/PubMed for articles on ethical issues in medicine, biotechnology and health put together by the National Library of Medicine 
  • Art Abstracts - includes articles on aesthetics
    • Available online from 1984-present (also Art Index Retrospective for 1929-1984)
    • indexing and abstracts for more than 450 international art publications.
