About the Collection
This online collection is drawn from the Mount Holyoke
College Archives, Manuscripts and Rare Book collection. The
images include photographs in a wide variety of formats
from the mid 1840's,
post cards, prints, drawings and engravings. Textual materials
include correspondence and published texts as well as "born
digital" electronic records.
Creating this online resource
is of great importance for the College given the non-circulating
and non-browsable nature of the collection and the high
level of researcher demand for images from the collection.
Archives and Special Collections is able to provide access
to these resources under certain conditions of the copyright
law of the United States (Title 17, United States, code).
Under certain conditions specified in the law, libraries
and archives are authorized to furnish a photocopy or other
reproduction. One of these specified conditions is that
the photocopy or reproduction is not to be "used for
any purpose other than private study, scholarship, or research." Permission
to use copies of images from this collection must be obtained
in writing from Archives and Special Collections.
