Agency History/Biographical note:
Marietta Sherwood graduated from Mount Holyoke Seminary in 1847 and
married Daniel D. Frost, a minister, in 1849. They lived in Redding,
Connecticut where they had five children. Her aunt Mary Sherwood
Pennell also attended Mount Holyoke Female Seminary, x-Class of 1844.
Sherwood died in Wabasha, Minnesota, in 1863.
Scope and Content:
Letters to Mr. and Mrs. William Sherwood from their daughter,
Marietta Sherwood Frost, son-in-law, Daniel D. Frost and
grandchildren dated from August 13, 1849 and ca. February 18, 1860.
Describes family activities, the education and health of the children
and life in Redding, Conn. and West Stockbridge, Mass. Also included
in the collection is a note regarding 43 letters (ca. 1843-1844)
written by Marietta to her family and friends at home while she was
at Mount Holyoke Female Seminary.
