Description: The scrapbook was compiled by Janet Evans Austin,
Mount Holyoke class of 1925, and Alice G.
Renfrew, Mount Holyoke class of 1921. The
scrapbook contains photographs ca. 1876-1968 of
Hahn, her family and friends, and houses she was
associated with. Included are Hahn's birth
(1876) and death (1950) certificates. Also
included are the birth (1843) and naturalization
(1911) certificates for her father, Carl S. Hahn,
born in Germany, and the marriage certificate of
her parents, Carl S. and Mary Beaver Hahn (1873).
The scrapbook also contains correspondence from
1944 pertaining to Hahn's burial plot at the
Great Valley Baptist Church in Berwyn,
Pennsylvania. There is a biographical sketch
probably written by Dorothy Foster, Mount Holyoke
English professor, with whom Hahn lived in South
Hadley, Massachusetts after her retirement from
Mount Holyoke. There is also a biographical
entry compiled by Renfrew, and copies of articles
written by Austin and Renfrew for the Mount
Holyoke Alumnae Quarterly, regarding Hahn's
retirement and her death. The scrapbook also
contains copies of a letter written by Hahn after
her reception of a retirement gift (1941), as
well as a photograph of the gift itself, and a
copy of a news letter sent to contributors to the
Dorothy A. Hahn memorial fund (1954). Also
included is a complete list of Hahn's
publications.
