Historical Sketch:
The Committee on a Summer Session was appointed in 1918 to consider benefits of a winter vacation and a summer session of college due primarily to the difficulties in securing fuel for the winter months. The final report of 1920 discourages a summer session at the College.

Description of Records:
The records include reports submitted by the Committee to the faculty. They provide summaries of faculty opinions, and arguments both for and against a summer session at Mount Holyoke.
