Record Group Number: RG 16.3.047
1 folder
Historical Sketch:
The Committee on Educational and National Defense was formed in
1940 to deal with possible problems Mount Holyoke could encounter
due to the war. The Committee conducted a survey of students and
as a result, introduced new courses concerning defense to the College.
Description of Records:
The records contain minutes, correspondence, information published
by the U.S. government, and a survey distributed to students with
results. The focus of the Committee meetings as well as the subject
of most of the correspondence is ways for Mount Holyoke to aid the
National Defense, the possibility of offering new courses in defense,
and ways for the College to deal with the fuel shortage. The governmental
reports provide advice to colleges.
