Historical Sketch:
The Continuing Education Committee was established in 1978 to consider
founding a new program at Mount Holyoke College for older women
or to alter the existing program. The Committee was composed of
the President of the College, various professors, alumnae, and students.
Although the Committee was established after the formation of the
Frances Perkins Program, the Committee's main task was to improve
the program to better suit the needs of the students.
Description of Records:
The records contain a list of proposed members of the Committee,
reports, proposals, minutes, memoranda, and correspondence. Many
demographic statistics are included, in addition to discussions
of a changing American Society. Lists of problems and concerns are
included in the reports, as well as budgetary and scheduling information.
