Historical Sketch:
The Long-Range Planning Committee was established to discuss the
effects of Amherst becoming a coeducational school on Mount Holyoke.
The Committee discussed ways to minimize the effect. Additionally,
the Committee identified common characteristics among its applicants,
accepted students, and students who transfer from Mount Holyoke.
Description of Records:
The records contain minutes, recommendations, transfer questionnaires,
correspondence, and reports. Information on course exchange between
Mount Holyoke, Amherst, and Smith is detailed. Profiles of traditional
transfer students is included, as well as characteristic of accepted
Mount Holyoke College students.
