Historical Sketch:
The Strategic Planning Steering Committee was established in 1988
as an aggressive committee designed to involve all members of the
College Community. The Committed was composed of six subcommittees
and an administrative body. Subcommittees included faculty and student
representatives.
Description of Records:
The records contain a report published by the Committee for the
Mount Holyoke Community. The report addresses such faculty related
issues as faculty compensation, sabbatical support, ancillary support
of professional life, and recognition and reward of excellence,
and contain recommendations with financial implications. Curriculum
and Academic concerns are outlined, with recommendations for the
College, faculty, staff, and students. Student Life issues including
faculty/student relations, safety, and athletics are discussed.
The College economy in relation to student fees and the endowment
is discussed. Multiculturalism, and credibility and regulation of
higher education of Mount Holyoke in the 1990s is also outlined.
