Historical Sketch:
The Task Force on the College Economy was established to determine
the needs of the College and evaluate them in relation to the economic
problems facing the College. The Task Force took suggestions from
employees and formed plans for future improvements to the College
with financial impact assessments and priorities.
Description of Records:
The records contain reports, agendas, a summary of library budgetary
information, notes from various Task Force meetings, a list of all
College expenditures for 1984-1987, memoranda, a packet of material
entitled "The Past Meets the Future: The Campaign for Mount Holyoke,"
copies of various publications, and an outline of policies for donations
to the College. Articles contained in the records include "Campus
Trends, 1988" by Elaine El-Khawas, "Demographic Environmental Scan,
July 1988" which outlines national trends, "High School Graduates:
Projections by State, 1986 to 2004," "Student Demographics" which
outlines trends of admission at the Five Colleges, and "COFHE Environmental
Scanning Project, Part II, Social Trends" by the Consortium on Financing
Higher Education." Statements concerning the opinions of many Task
Force members are included. Reports from the Director of Information
Services and the Library are included also.
