Academic Policy Committee
Records, 1968-
Record Group Number: RG 16.3.124
16 boxes (6.5 linear feet)
Historical Sketch:
The Academic Policy Committee was established in 1968 by a vote
of the faculty to replace the Academic Committee. The Academic Policy
Committee is composed of the President of the College, the Academic
Dean, the Registrar, and seven faculty members. The Dean of Students
and Director of Admissions are nonvoting members. The Committee
defines credit allotments, distribution requirements, and other
academic standards. It also periodically reviews all courses offered
at the College, and approves new and amended courses.
Description of Records:
The records contain minutes and agendas, correspondence, memoranda,
reports, and three editions of "A Guide to the Uses and Acknowledgment
of Sources" (1979, 1980, 1994). Information on the formation and
composition of the Committee is included, as well as concerns, recommendations,
and decisions of the Committee concerning campus issues and problems
with specific students. Many letters in defense of students with
poor academic records are also included.
