Historical Sketch:
The Committee on a Multiracial Community was established to promote multicultural awareness on campus. The Committee was composed of faculty, students, and administrators. It organized many seminars and open forums for the College community which focused on education.

Description of Records:
The records contain budget requests,a proposal for Human Relations Program (1987), memoranda, correspondence, "Unity News" calendars/newsletters on diversity, records from the Ad Hoc Steering Committee for the Forum on Racism and Education (1980), agenda, a program for "Forum on Racism and Education," a questionnaire for faculty, newspaper clippings, lists of Committee members, and minutes. Information includes a list of responsibilities for minority liaisons, affirmative action policies at Mount Holyoke College, many articles concerning the Bakke Case, articles with advise on recruiting minority students, and information concerning a diversity program held at Western New England College involving Mount Holyoke (1991).
