Historical Sketch:
The Committee on Advanced Standing was established in 1909 by the
President with representatives from each department. The Committee
discussed whether specific students should be granted credit for
work done prior to entrance at Mount Holyoke. The Committee also
supervised transfer students and students taking a junior year abroad.
Description of Records:
The records contain minutes, agendas, governing policies, and recommendations.
Information includes requirements for students wishing to study
abroad, list of students entering Mount Holyoke with advanced standing,
discussions of whether specific students should receive credit for
work done before admittance to the College, and lists of schools
attended by applicants for advanced standing. Information on the
University of Delaware Program in France and the University of Munich
also is included.
