Historical Sketch:
The Committee on Resources and Priorities was established in 1975
by the Board of Trustees. The Committee was composed of three trustees,
the President, two administrators, three faculty members, and three
students. The Committee's purpose was to formulate possible future
plans to deal with high inflation and the College's growing deficit.
The Committee discussed issues of federal support of higher education,
planned giving by alumnae, and the rising costs of tuition, room,
and board.
Description of Records:
The records contain agenda, memoranda, minutes, correspondence,
reports, a brochure for the Seven Springs Center, newspaper and
magazine clippings, and various audio tapes. Records from the Committee's
retreats in 1981 and 1985 are included. Financial information, including
income and expenditure projections, is also included.
