Historical Sketch:
The Faculty Committee on Planning and Budget was established in
1987 to advise the President, Treasurer and Board of Trustees. The
Committee was composed of five elected faculty members, and one
member appointed by the Faculty Conference Committee. The Committee
reviewed proposed changes in student fees and faculty salaries,
and monitored efforts of the capital campaign which occurred in
1987.
Description of Records:
The records contain lists of nominees to the Committee, reports,
memoranda, a copy of the 1988 Annual Study of Faculty Resources
at Selected Colleges, yearly schedules, an announcement for a forum
sponsored by the Committee, and various financial statistics. Graphs
and charts identifying trends in increasing tuition, room, board,
and financial support for students is included. Many comparisons
among Mount Holyoke College and similar institutions concerning
student fees, faculty salaries, income sources, and financial aid
for students are included.
