Historical Sketch:
The Mount Holyoke Women's Studies Department became a formal department
in the 1982/1983 academic year. The department is interdisciplinary
in its approach,
Description of Records:
The Mount Holyoke College Women's Studies Department Records contain
newspaper clippings; advertisements; brochures; reports; and student
papers. The records include information about the Women's Studies
Department's special events in addition to information about the
events, lectures, and presentations of the Five College Women's
Studies Research Center which is housed at Mount Holyoke. Information
about the Women's Studies Department internship/field work program
can be found in the records. Student papers from Professor Martha
Ackmann's courses are also contained in the records. Also included
in the records are the annual reports of the Women's Studies Department
to the President of the College.
