Financial Aid Office

Historical Sketch:
In 1893, all types of financial aid was determined by the Registrar.
In 1907, the Dean of the college determined the financial aid packages
of students. After 1933, the Director of the Appointment Bureau
was in charge of financial aid. In 1958, both the Director of the
Appointment Bureau and the Director of Scholarships determined the
financial aid packages. Beginning in July of 1963, the position
of Director of Financial Aid was established. The Director of Financial
Aid worked out of the Office of the Academic Dean and later the
Office of the Dean of the Faculty. In 1975, the Office of Financial
Aid was formally established as a separate office. In 1994, the
Financial Aid Office merged with several other offices to form the
Office of Financial Services.
Description of Records:
The records of the Financial Aid Office include information on Almunae
Clubs and scholarship lists from 1969-70, conferences and forms,
job applications for department positions, and desk files. There
are also annual reports dated from 1965-69 and 1971-78, correspondence,
budgets, reports, and speeches. It also contains information packets
about financial aid and applications. There is no information on
individual student financial aid packages.
