Chronologies help researchers pinpoint the day, decade or century that an event occurred. They also describe the inventions, events, and the world political, economic and cultural climate for a particular time period.

Historic Dictionaries

Historical Dictionaries are reference guides to the history of a particular country, region, movement, time period or genre presented in a dictionary format. Within an historical dictionary for France, you would be able to look up movements, wars, individuals, or divisions of the government and obtain a brief synopsis on whatever you were looking for. Below are some examples of the types of dictionaries available. For a more complete list or for a dictionary specific to your research topic you can either run a search in the Five College Library Catalog or consult with a Reference Librarian
