Beginning Primary Research

As noted earlier, working with primary sources is different from working with secondary sources. To begin with, primary sources are usually rare or even unique. Archival and manuscript collections are also usually made up of large groups of papers or records which make description, cataloging and research a complex process. Locating the records you will need for your research can be time consuming. Make sure that you leave yourself three to four months to locate the materials and do the research.
