| Consulting Archivists and Librarians |
Archivists and librarians are a valuable resource when you are working with primary sources.
The Mount Holyoke College archivists and reference librarians encourage you to contact them for assistance with your research even if you are planning to use archival materials at an institution other than Mount Holyoke. Please feel free to call the Archives (X2013) or the Library Reference Desk (X2212) or use the Archives Reference Request Form if you have specific questions or if you need help with your research.
In the next section you will find a list of some basic resources you may want to consult as you begin your primary research. These sources range from the very general (books like The Source that will help you understand what types of documents are available for use and how to use them) to the specific (guides to the papers and records in particular repositories). Please keep in mind that these are not comprehesive lists, but rather selected samples to give you an idea of what sources are available. You may want to search the library catalog to see if there are resources similar to these that are specific to your topic.
