Finding Books
- The best way to find a book on your topic is to start
with a search in the Library
Catalog. Once you've found something of interest,
you should also browse the stacks in that particular area.
- Examples of Subject Headings to locate Secondary Sources:
Indians of North America - Government Relations - To 1789
Indians of North America - History - Colonial Period
Indians - First contact with Europeans
Indians of North America - Bibliography
NOTE: Locating works by subject heading on individual Indian tribes can be tricky. For example, the catalog uses "Dakota Indians" not Sioux. To obtain the right subject heading: try doing a keyword search first, select a relevant title and then make note of the subject heading.
