Ready Reference Sources

  • Campaigns and Elections. Congressional Quarterly's central site on current information about upcoming elections.
  • Congressional Universe. Provides access to full-text U.S. legislative materials including Congressional publications, bills, laws and regulations. Information about members of Congress and news on what's happening in Congress is also available.
  • Electoral Websites. Provides information on parliamentary elections and links to www sites of national parliaments and political parties worldwide.
  • Government Document Web Resources. Provides links to sites dealing with federal, state and local politics.
  • Political Database of the Americas. Launched in 1995, this site provides access to current primary source documents and political information about Western Hemisphere politics.
  • Political Parties Resources. Provides links to the web sites of political parties in North America and Europe.
  • Political Resources Online.
  • Portals to the World. Provided by the Library of Congress, this site contains "selective links providing authoritative, in-depth information about the nations and other areas of the world."
  • Public Agenda Online. Aims to provide nonpartisan information on social issues ranging from abortion to Social Security. Heavy emphasis on polling data and digest of recent articles.
  • PollingReport.com. Provides access to poll data on topics of national political, economic and sociocultual interest. Electronic equivalent to the magazine The Polling Report.
  • Thomas: Legislative Information on the Internet. Provides the full-text of legislation and accompanying documents (hearings, reports, bills, etc.) in the U.S. Congress.

 

Searching for Books

  • Browse the J section in the main stacks for primary and secondary sources on international relations, law and organizations.
  • Search the Five College Online Library Catalog by author, title or subject.

 

Bibliographies and Indexes

  • PAIS: Public Affairs Information Service. Indexes articles, books, conference proceedings, and government documents. Available online for literature published since 1972. Earlier literature is available online at PAIS Archive and in paper (main periodical stacks, level 2 1/2) from 1915 to 1971.
  • International Bibliography of Political Science (JA 1 A1 I64 Ref). Annual publication listing books and journal articles with author and subject indexes.
  • International Political Science Abstracts (1951 - present)
    Indexes and abstracts articles in political science journals published worldwide. Updated bimonthly, this index is available only in paper and may be found at JA 36 I5 REF.
