============================================================================== End of Academic Year and your Computer Account: Revised 2007-05-15 Account access after Graduation Michael A. Crowley This document is important if you are interested in: * Continuing your account after graduation * Knowing what will happen to your stored information General questions about your computer account may be emailed to: helpdesk@mtholyoke.edu Graduated students As a courtesy, graduated alumnae retain their basic email account as long as that account is in good standing and without policy violations or other unacceptable use. An account may be inactivated if it has been unused for a semester or if the INBOX goes over quota for an extended time. We encourage you to email the address alumna-account with a current phone number and alternate (non-MHC) email address so that we can contact you if there is a problem with your MHC computer account. Continuing accounts only apply to accounts on MHC. Accounts on other college computer systems are not likely to be retained after graduation (see below). Your ISIS account is also retained as long as the basic email account is maintained. Your account information You are responsible for obtaining all the information from your account before the account is terminated. The information may be deleted from the system when an account is terminated. If your account is continuing, there is no change to your HOME directory or your personal web area (world). The "classwork" and "classweb" file spaces are only provided to current students. The purpose, as the name implies, is for academic materials. Graduates are responsible for moving their information from that location to another medium. For more information on this, enter the MHC or Webshell "see/help" command: see accountspace In general, materials in "classwork" will be available in a read-only mode (you cannot delete or modify it) for a semester after graduation. After that it is removed. Accounts on other College systems Accounts are NOT retained on systems other than MHC. Accounts on other systems, such as the Math/Stat/CompSci systems, Chemistry systems, GIS systems, are not retained after graduation. Do not count on any information on the Ella learning management system to be retained. If you have data and information on one of these systems that you wish to keep, those data must be transferred to your MHC account before June 30. If these data involve research and collaboration with a faculty member, you may need to arrange with that person to transfer the data to that individual's account. Reinstatement: If an account has been locked due to inactivity or filled INBOX, it is very easy to reinstate as long as you know your password. Simply write to account-manager at Mount Holyoke and request that you wish to begin using your email account again. As long as you know your password, we can simply turn it back on. If you do not know your password, for security purposes, we will need to have a dialog with you to make sure we are talking with the correct individual. Accounts that have been closed or locked due to security issues or acceptable use violations might not be eligible for reinstatement. If you write to "alumna-account", please include in your email: * Your full name. * Your MHC username if you are emailing from another account. * Telephone number where you can be reached, and when. =========================================================================
