             Getting MHC email to your Gmail account

You can have your Google account check your MHC email using POP.
You can select one of two options:
    1.  Move all MHC inbox email to your gmail account.
    2.  Read new MHC email but leave the email in your MHC inbox.
        If this option is selected, occasionally you need to log 
	into your MHC email and remove email to avoid going over
	the MHC inbox quota.
This will get email in your MHC inbox.  Email sent to MHC spam
folders will not be obtained.

Here is how to do it:
  1.  Log into your gmail account
  2.  Go to:  Settings -> Accounts and import -> Add POP3 email account
  3.  Select:  Add a mail account you own
      A series of windows pop up to lead you through the next steps.
      Here are the windows and what you should enter:
        A.  "Enter the email address of the accout."
	    You should enter your full MHC username, such as:
	       smith@mtholyoke.edu
	B.  "Enter the email settings for ...."
	    "Username":  [your MHC login/username, such as: smith]
	    "Password":  [your MHC password]
	    "POP Server: mail.mtholyoke.edu
	    "Port":      995

	    Now check the following:
	      a.  "Leave a copy of the retrieved message on the server"
	          You need to decide.  At first you may want to leave
		  the messages, but later if you want to avoid logging
		  into your MHC inbox and deleting messages, you could
		  have google remove the messages it retrieves.
              b.  "Always use a secure connection..."
	          This must be checked.
	    Other checkbox items are optional.

	C.  If the above is successful, it will say:
	    "Your mail account has been added."
        D.  "Enter information about your other email address"
	    You can enter the name associated with that address.
	    We strongly recommend NOT using any Reply-to address.
        E.  "Send mail through your SMTP server?"
	    We recommend:  Send through Gmail
	F.  "Verify your email address"
	    Google will need to verify the email account your have requested.
	    Google provides further instructions.
