• Data wiring Clapp has some of the oldest data wiring on campus. The wiring is pre-Cat 3 wire. Most of the runs meet Cat 3 standards. A few of the longer runs do not meet Cat 3, but all rooms have wires that test at Cat 3.

  The existing wiring is not adequate for some scientific applications, but it is sufficient for 10 Mbps operations.

  Some of the labs (Clapp 108 and Clapp 120) were renovated before the science project have Cat 5 wire. These are marked in green in the plans below, but are noted as not being Cat 6.

• Wiring closets There are five small wiring closets, one on each floor, which comprise the old wiring closet system. These are barely adequate for the current data needs.

  A new wiring closet (Clapp 204), designed to be a shared space and accomodate the entire building, was constructed as part of the science project. A number of these renovations have already occurred and are marked in green on the plans below.
