LITS is seeking faculty (individuals or teams) interested in developing
small curriculum-related multimedia projects including web sites, audio-video
projects, GIS, digital imaging or other instructional digital technology.
LITS will award funding for a maximum of 100 hours of student work in the
appropriate multimedia technology in order to build each project. The Research
and Instructional Support (RIS) team will provide the student workers with
any necessary training for the projects (student hours used for training
are considered part of the 100 hours) and will consult with students and
faculty for the length of the grant. Please note that the grant can be used
only to fund student technologists wages. It is not intended for software
or hardware purchases.
Students are directly hired, trained and project managed by RIS. All work
will be completed during summer 2005. Faculty members provide content and
direction for the project and must be available for approval and feedback
during the summer (by email or phone.) RIS staff will project manage the
summer productions. Both RIS and the faculty member will be responsible
for keeping the project on time and on budget. Faculty members will be required
to meet face to face with the project team at least two or three times during
the summer.
Request for Proposals: Proposals should include a description of
the multimedia project and an explanation of how the project will be used
in the curriculum. The scope of the project should allow for its completion
within the maximum of 100 work hours funded. Projects will be selected based
on feasibility, compatibility with existing resources (hardware, software
and expertise) and the integration of the project into the curriculum. To
encourage the wider use of curricular technology, consideration will be
given to first time applicants.
