Sarah:

“I applied to several colleges in the US, in the UK as well as Hong Kong and South Africa. So, especially in the United States, it was a foreign country to me. I didn’t know which ones were the best colleges. And I didn’t actually get a chance to visit the colleges themselves. So really it’s a matter of luck that I found Mount Holyoke. …One of my cousins had gone to Wellesley and she had had such a great experience of it that she encouraged me to look at a women’s college. Initially I wasn’t as receptive to the idea as I am now because I had gone to girls schools most of my life… But I thought if I was going to give Wellesley a fair chance, I should give all the women’s colleges a fair chance and see what they had to offer. And Mount Holyoke immediately distinguished itself as, just such a personal college… They were very swift in replying to me. So I felt like I knew the college even before I came to Mount Holyoke. And really that experience for me has just emphasized the fact that the college isn’t just about the buildings or the academics or the facilities; it’s about the people. And I’ve learned so much not just from the professors but also from my fellow students. And, they’re really extraordinary here. ”
