<B>SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. (Sept. 30, 2008) -</B> Junior forward <B>Lauren Orr</B> racked up two goals and an assist, as the Mount Holyoke College women's soccer team defeated previously unbeaten Lesley University this evening at the Mount Holyoke Soccer Field. It was the first ever meeting between the two programs.
<BR><BR>
Lesley jumped out to a 1-0 edge just 6:10 into the contest, when first year midfielder Emma Fogg scored off a crossing pass from junior sweeper Jodi Fralick.
<BR><BR>
Neither team scored again until the 40th minute, when Orr netted the equalizer off a feed from junior midfielder Jesse Sugrue. It was the first of three unanswered tallies for the Lyons. After receiving Sugrue's long pass from the midfield, Orr broke past the Lesley defense and beat junior goalkeeper Hailee Lowe.
<BR><BR>
Heading into the second half, the match was still knotted up at one goal apiece. Junior midfielder <B>Perry Markell</B> recorded her first collegiate goal in the 55th minute to break the tie. Sugrue started the play with a cross from the middle to the left side. Her pass reached Markell, who deposited the ball into the back of the net. Lowe got her hands on the shot but couldn't control it.

Just over six minutes later, Orr extended the Lyons cushion to 3-1 on her second tally of the evening. She collected a loose ball in the box and snapped a shot over Lowe's head into the top of the goal. Markell was credited with the assist on what proved to be the match winner.

Despite a two goal deficit, the Lynx refused to go away. Fralick sliced the lead to 3-2 in the 75th minute, using a free kick feed from sophomore midfielder Alyson Durben. It was her team leading 17th marker of the season.

Sophomore midfielder <B>Yuko Takahashi</B> registered her fourth goal of the year in the 82nd minute to seal things for Mount Holyoke. Lowe turned away her initial shot, but Orr grabbed the rebound and fired a shot off the crossbar. Takahashi came up with the ensuing loose ball and tapped it past the goal line. 
<BR><BR>
Junior <B>Elaine Harvey</B> got the start between the pipes for the Lyons. She made ten saves on 23 Lesley shots. Lowe finished with seven saves for the Lynx. She faced a total of 18 shots.
<BR><BR>
Both squads are slated to return to action on Saturday. Mount Holyoke (3-6-0, 0-1-0 NEWMAC) will host Wellesley College for a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) clash beginning at 1:00 p.m. Meanwhile, Lesley (8-1-1, 3-0-0) will be at home against New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) opponent Southern Vermont College at 10:30 a.m.
