SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. (Sept. 27, 2008) - Senior outside hitter Chelsea Tracy delivered 14 kills and nine digs, as the Mount Holyoke College women's volleyball team sprinted to a 3-0 (27-25, 25-19, 25-17) victory over non-conference foe St. Joseph College of Connecticut this afternoon at the Mildred Howard Gymnasium. It was the Lyons fifth straight win over the Blue Jays, a streak dating back to 2001.

After escaping with a 27-25 triumph in the opening set, Mount Holyoke went on to take the next two sets by scores of 25-19 and 25-17. Senior right side hitter Amanda Trask contributed five kills, 15 digs, four service aces and three blocks to help the Lyons to their fourth win of the 2008 campaign. The hosts also received solid production from sophomore setter Kateryna Kuc, who accumulated 24 assists and nine digs. Classmate Rosa Marruffo chipped in with six kills and 13 digs.

St. Joseph was paced by junior outside hitter Catherine Irwin, who tallied seven kills and five service aces. Senior setter Antoinette Marciano recorded 14 assists and seven digs, while sophomore middle hitter Brittany Souza added three solo blocks.

Mount Holyoke (4-4, 0-3 NEWMAC) will resume its New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) slate on Tuesday at Babson College beginning at 7:00 p.m. St. Joseph (3-7, 0-3 GNAC) is slated to host Emerson College for a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) clash on Thursday at 7:00 p.m.
