<B>SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. (Oct. 7, 2008) -</B> The Springfield College women's volleyball team cruised to a 3-0 (25-11, 25-16, 25-8) victory over New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) foe Mount Holyoke College this evening at the Mildred Howard Gymnasium. With their 17th straight win over the Lyons, the Pride improved their record to 17-4 overall and a perfect 5-0 in league play.

Springfield was led by sophomore middle blocker Bethany Stosz, who notched 11 kills. First year middle blocker Lauren Torvi and sophomore outside hitter Heather Lively totaled ten kills apiece, while senior opposite hitter Heidi Yohe added nine kills and five service aces. Senior outside hitter Aylene Ilkson and sophomore setter Kelsea Hellyar tallied 12 digs and 34 assists, respectively.

The Lyons received solid production from senior outside hitter <B>Chelsea Tracy</B>, who registered five kills. Sophomore setter <B>Kateryna Kuc</B> collected 11 assists, while classmate <B>Rosa Marruffo</B> added three kills. Rounding things out for the hosts were sophomore libero <B>Kara Niedhardt</B> and senior right side hitter <B>Amanda Trask</B>, who chipped in with seven and six digs, respectively.

Mount Holyoke (4-6, 0-5 NEWMAC) will return to action next Tuesday, when it hosts Wheaton College for a league tilt beginning at 7:00 p.m. Springfield (17-4, 5-0 NEWMAC) will host the Tom Hay Invitational this weekend, with matches taking place on Friday and Saturday. The Pride will face off against Westfield State College, Roger Williams University, Western New England College and Plymouth State University.
