


<p><font size=4><span class=pagetitle>Squash Quartet Competes in CSA Individuals</span></font></p>

<p><strong><a href="http://www.mtholyoke.edu/athletics/varsity/squash/stats08/sqcsaind.htm">Tournament Statistics﻿</a></strong></p>
<p><strong>WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. (March 1, 2009)</strong> &ndash; Several members of the Mount Holyoke College women&rsquo;s squash team competed in the 2009 College Squash Association Individual Championships at Williams College over the weekend. On the women&rsquo;s side of the event, there were two divisions - Ramsay Cup (A draw) and Holleran Cup (B draw).</p>
<p>Senior <strong><a href="http://www.mtholyoke.edu/athletics/varsity/squash/17468.shtml">Pamela Anckermann</a></strong> competed in the Ramsay Cup. After falling 3-1 in her round of 32 contest versus Trinity College&rsquo;s Tehani Guruge, she defeated Harvard University&rsquo;s Johanna Snyder 3-0 in the first round of the consolation bracket. Anckermann&rsquo;s weekend then ended with a 3-0 setback versus Harvard&rsquo;s Bethen Williams in the consolation quarterfinals.</p>
<p>Sophomore <strong><a href="http://www.mtholyoke.edu/athletics/varsity/squash/17470.shtml">Vidushi Gurunada</a></strong> advanced to the semifinals of the Holleran Cup before suffering a 3-2 setback versus Yale University&rsquo;s Lexi Van Arkle. After receiving a bye in the round of 64, she cruised to a 3-0 triumph over Hamilton College&rsquo;s Kristen Rubin in the round of 32. With the win, she moved on to the round of 16, where she faced off against Yale&rsquo;s Aly Kerr. Gurunada was awarded the match in the fourth game, when Kerr retired with an injury. She was leading 2-1 at the time. She then moved on to the semifinals with a 3-1 win over Trinity&rsquo;s Emily Paton in the quarterfinals.</p>
<p>Junior <strong><a href="http://www.mtholyoke.edu/athletics/varsity/squash/17476.shtml">Laura Robinson</a></strong> and first year <strong><a href="http://www.mtholyoke.edu/athletics/varsity/squash/21398.shtml">Shara Robertson</a></strong> each grabbed 3-0 victories in their Holleran Cup round of 64 contests. Robinson downed Connecticut College&rsquo;s top player, Chrissie Parsons, while Robertson upended Bates College&rsquo;s number two player, Whitney Roller. In the round of 32, Robinson fell to Charlotte Steel of Brown University, and Robertson lost to eventual Holleran Cup Champion Jennifer Coxe of Williams. They were each defeated 3-0.</p>
<p>Both players then competed in the second consolation bracket. Robinson cruised to a 3-0 triumph over Wesleyan University&rsquo;s Casey Simchik in the round of 16 and then upended Columbia University&rsquo;s Elizabeth Chu 3-1 in the quarterfinals. Her weekend came to a close in the semifinals, where she was edged 3-2 by Alex Cornett of Cornell University. Meanwhile, Robertson collected a 3-1 victory over Hannah Laverty in the round of 16 before falling 3-0 to Cornett in the quarterfinals. Laverty was the number one player from Bates.</p>
<p>The Lyons rounded out their 2008-09 campaign with an overall record of 15-7. They closed out their season at the Howe Cup, where they secured 11th place nationally.</p>
