SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. (Oct. 7, 2008) - Junior forward Katelyn Frick recorded a pair of goals and an assist to help the Mount Holyoke College women's field hockey team to a 5-1 victory over New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) foe Smith College this evening at the Mount Holyoke Turf Field. It was the Lyons seventh straight win over the Pioneers.

Mount Holyoke jumped out to a 1-0 edge just 4:11 into the match, when first year Jess Fajardo scored from close range off a short pass from Frick. Fajardo returned the favor in the 39th minute, as Frick tipped in her crossing pass from the right side to put the Lyons in front 2-0.

The Lyons responded with their third tally of the night just over two minutes later. Senior midfielder Anne Doton received a pass from the corner, dribbled around multiple Smith defenders and slid a pass to Frick, who found the cage for her second goal.

Three minutes later, Mount Holyoke scored again to put things out of reach. First year forward Shara Robertson collected a rebound and recorded her team leading tenth goal of the season to extend the cushion to 4-1.

Junior forward Mary Kate Switchenko wrapped up the scoring in the 69th minute, when she collected a loose ball in front of the cage and pushed a shot past Smith junior goalkeeper Margaret Winter. Doton was credited with the assist on the play.

Mount Holyoke finished the match with large advantages in both shots (21-4) and penalty corners (17-5).
