Indoor Track & Field Participates in Cardinal Invitational

MIDDLETOWN, Conn. (Jan. 24, 2009) – Led by first year Miriam Larson-Koester, the Mount Holyoke College women’s indoor track and field posted solid results today at the Wesleyan University Cardinal Invitational. The non-scoring event took place at the Bacon Field House in Middletown, Conn.

Larson-Koester grabbed second place out of 28 competitors in the shot put with a throw of 10.74 meters. She also fared well in the weight throw, finishing in eighth place. Her toss of 10.85 meters was a personal best.

The Lyons received a boost from sophomore Caitlin Desautels, who grabbed 26th place in the one mile run with a time of 6:14.72. First year Holly Valenzuela completed the 800 meter race in 2:42.91 to secure 12th overall. Both runners were competing in their first collegiate meets.

Mount Holyoke will return to action next Saturday, when it competes in the Wheaton College Invitational at 9:00 a.m.
