


<p><font size=4><span class=pagetitle>St. Lawrence Tops Lacrosse in Florida, 19-10</span></font></p>

<p><strong>WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (March 16, 2009) </strong>&ndash; The Mount Holyoke College women&rsquo;s lacrosse team suffered a 19-10 setback versus non-conference foe St. Lawrence University this morning in its first of two spring break games at Lake Lytal Park in West Palm Beach, Florida. St. Lawrence also downed the Lyons at the annual Spring Fling event last spring.</p>
<p>Leading the way for St. Lawrence was junior midfielder Julia Wooters, who racked up six points on five goals and an assist. Senior midfielder Amanda Forbes posted four goals and a helper, while sophomore midfielder Kim Morse added two goals and an assist. The Saints outshot Mount Holyoke 34-17 en route to their first win of the 2009 campaign.</p>
<p>Mount Holyoke was paced by senior midfielder <strong><a href="http://www.mtholyoke.edu/athletics/varsity/lacrosse/19072.shtml">Ava Gottschall</a></strong>, who amassed a season best four goals. Sophomore attacker <strong><a href="http://www.mtholyoke.edu/athletics/varsity/lacrosse/19071.shtml">Clara Raugei</a></strong> registered her third consecutive hat trick, while junior <strong><a href="http://www.mtholyoke.edu/athletics/varsity/lacrosse/19083.shtml">Peggy Wefald</a></strong>&nbsp; and first years <strong>Hilary Bombard</strong> and <strong>Alex Crean </strong>found the net one time each.</p>
<p>The Lyons trailed 4-3 following a Raugei tally at the 5:15 mark of the first half. From there, St. Lawrence took control of the contest, outscoring Mount Holyoke 4-1 over the final five minutes of the opening frame to open up an 8-4 edge. Wooters scored twice during the rally and had three goals at the break.</p>
<p>St. Lawrence recorded the first three goals of the second stanza to push its cushion to 11-4. Raugei&rsquo;s third goal of the day sliced the deficit to 14-9 with 9:32 remaining in regulation, but the Saints scored five of the final six goals to close things out.</p>
<p>Sophomore goalkeeper Anna Marchand made four saves en route to her first win of the season. At the other end, sophomore <strong>Missy Hartley </strong>turned away 13 saves in a losing effort.</p>
<p>Mount Holyoke (2-2, 0-0 NEWMAC) will round out its spring break trip against Allegheny College on Wednesday at 10:00 a.m.</p>
