Outdoor Track & Field Kicks Off Slate at Trinity
HARTFORD, Conn. (March 28, 2009) – The Mount Holyoke College women’s outdoor track and field team kicked off its 2009 slate today at the Trinity Invitational. Squads from around the region competed in the event, which took place at Jesse/Miller Field.
Leading the way for the Lyons was Bree Ligon-Hollinger. The first year grabbed third place in the high jump with a height of 1.42 meters.
Classmate Miriam Larson-Koester took part in three field events. Her throw of 33.02 meters was good for seventh place in the discus. Meanwhile, she finished 12th in the hammer throw (32.46 meters) and 13th in the javelin (18.30 meters).
Sophomore Jacinta Edebeli finished 24th in the 200-meter dash with a time of 29.82.
The annual Mount Holyoke Invitational will take place on Saturday at noon. Smith College, Wellesley College and the University of Southern Maine will join the Lyons at the meet.
