<p><strong>﻿CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (April 29, 2009)</strong> &ndash; Sophomore attacker Erica Little found the net four times, as the third seeded Massachusetts Institute of Technology women&rsquo;s lacrosse team picked up a 15-6 victory over sixth seeded Mount Holyoke College in a New England Women&rsquo;s and Men&rsquo;s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Tournament Quarterfinal round contest this evening at Roberts Field.</p>
<p>With their seventh straight win over the Lyons, the Engineers (13-4, 4-2 NEWMAC) punched their ticket to the NEWMAC Semifinals. They will face off against second seeded Springfield College, which cruised to an 18-3 triumph over seventh seeded Springfield College this afternoon. The game will be hosted by top seeded Babson College on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. In today&rsquo;s other Quarterfinal round contest, fourth seeded Wellesley College downed fifth seeded Wheaton College 16-5. The Blue will face off against Babson at noon on Saturday. Winners of the two Semifinal round tilts will meet up in the NEWMAC Championship on Sunday at 1:00 p.m.</p>
<p>Mount Holyoke closed out its 2009 campaign with an overall record of 5-11 and a league mark of 1-5.</p>
<p>MIT finished with advantages in shots (24-18), ground balls (22-16) and draw controls (12-11). In addition to Little&rsquo;s four goals, the Engineers also received a boost from senior defender Stephanie Brenman and sophomore midfielder Edith Reshef, who each tallied hat tricks. First year midfielder Katie Kauffman added two goals and a helper.</p>
<p>Mount Holyoke was paced by senior midfielder <strong><a href="http://www.mtholyoke.edu/athletics/varsity/lacrosse/19072.shtml">Ava Gottschall</a></strong>, who found the net twice. Sophomore attacker <strong><a href="http://www.mtholyoke.edu/athletics/varsity/lacrosse/19071.shtml">Clara Raugei</a></strong> and first year midfielders <strong><a href="http://www.mtholyoke.edu/athletics/varsity/lacrosse/22558.shtml">Taylor Hedges</a></strong> and <strong><a href="http://www.mtholyoke.edu/athletics/varsity/lacrosse/22556.shtml">Hilary Bombard</a></strong> accounted for one goal and one assist apiece.</p>
<p>Trailing 4-1 midway through the opening stanza, the Lyons recorded two straight goals to slice the deficit to 4-3 at the 9:14 mark. MIT responded with another 4-1 run to open up an 8-4 halftime edge. Brenman recorded all three of her tallies before the break.</p>
<p>After netting the final two goals of the first frame, the Engineers erupted for the first five of the second period. Little&rsquo;s third tally of the half put her team in front 13-4 with 13:33 remaining in regulation. In total, MIT outscored the Lyons 7-2 after the intermission.</p>
<p>Sophomore goalkeeper Molly McMartin posted nine saves for the hosts. Her counterpart, first year <strong><a href="http://www.mtholyoke.edu/athletics/varsity/lacrosse/22554.shtml">Jeanmarie Petersen</a></strong>, turned away seven shots for Mount Holyoke.</p>
