


<p><font size=4><span class=pagetitle>Field Hockey Routs Bryn Mawr at Seven Sisters, 4-0</span></font></p>

<p><strong>BRYN MAWR, Pa. (Sept. 19, 2009)</strong> – Led by sophomore forward <strong><a href="http://www.mtholyoke.edu/athletics/varsity/fhockey/20608.shtml">Jess Fajardo</a></strong>, the Mount Holyoke College field hockey team cruised to a 4-0 triumph over host Bryn Mawr College today at the 25th Seven Sisters Classic. Fajardo recorded a pair of goals for the Lyons, who improved to 2-1 on the year.</p>
<p>Mount Holyoke (2-1, 0-0 NEWMAC) dominated the contest from the outshot, piling up overwhelming advantages in both shots (37-0) and penalty corner opportunities (26-2).</p>
<p>The Lyons jumped out to a 1-0 edge just 14:31 into the contest, when senior midfielder <strong><a href="http://www.mtholyoke.edu/athletics/varsity/fhockey/16568.shtml">Peggy Wefald</a></strong> scored off a feed from sophomore defender <strong><a href="http://www.mtholyoke.edu/athletics/varsity/fhockey/20622.shtml">Tricia Chase</a></strong>.</p>
<p>Fajardo found the cage for her first goal of the day in the 27th minute to extend the lead to 2-0. She then used a feed from senior forward <strong><a href="http://www.mtholyoke.edu/athletics/varsity/fhockey/16563.shtml">Katelyn Frick</a></strong> to push the cushion to 3-0.</p>
<p>Frick notched an unassisted goal in the 59th minute to cap off the rout.</p>
<p>Sophomore <strong><a href="http://www.mtholyoke.edu/athletics/varsity/fhockey/20600.shtml">Katie Gibson</a></strong> got the start between the pipes for the Lyons. She went 65:38 before giving way to first year <strong><a href="http://www.mtholyoke.edu/athletics/varsity/fhockey/23541.shtml">Anne O’Byrne</a></strong>, who played the final 4:22. Neither player faced a shot. Gibson was credited with the win.</p>
<p>Bryn Mawr (0-6, 0-2 CC) sophomore goalkeeper Elizabeth Toft took the loss despite making 21 saves.</p>
<p>Prior to Mount Holyoke’s win, Wellesley College edged Vassar College 2-1 in overtime, and Smith College blanked Wilson College 2-0. The tournament will conclude with three more matches tomorrow. Bryn Mawr and Wellesley will get things going at 10:00 a.m., followed by Mount Holyoke and Wilson at noon. Vassar will face off against Smith to close things out at 2:00 p.m.</p>
