


<p><font size=4><span class=pagetitle>Switchenko Selected to Represent Lyons at NFHCA Senior All-Star Game</span></font></p>

<p><strong>﻿SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. (Nov. 5, 2009)</strong> &ndash; Senior <strong><a href="http://www.mtholyoke.edu/athletics/varsity/fhockey/16561.shtml">Mary Kate Switchenko</a></strong> has been selected to represent Mount Holyoke College at the 2009 National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division III Senior All-Star Game. The forward was among the 38 players from around the nation to be chosen for the game, which will take place in conjunction with the NCAA Division III National Championship at Mount Holyoke on Sunday, November 22 at 9:30 a.m.</p>
<p>Switchenko has appeared in 14 contests this season, making 11 starts. She has amassed 14 points on six goals and two assists. The forward propelled the Lyons to a thrilling 2-1 triumph over Springfield College on October 13, when she tallied the match winner 7:31 into overtime. It was Mount Holyoke&rsquo;s first victory over the Pride since the 2004 season. Switchenko also found the back of the cage for the winner in the Lyons 2-0 win over Wilson College at the Seven Sisters Championship on September 20.</p>
<p>Over her four year career, Switchenko has taken part in 64 matches, making 48 starts. The forward has racked up 69 points on 29 goals and 11 assists. Seven of her tallies have gone down as match winners. She was selected to the New England Women&rsquo;s and Men&rsquo;s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) All-Conference Second Team after posting ten goals and four assists as a junior. Switchenko registered career highs of three goals and seven points in Mount Holyoke&rsquo;s 5-0 victory over Elms College during her sophomore season (9/15/07). Five days later, she dished out a career high two assists in a 6-1 win over Western New England College (9/20/07). She has tallied two goals on six occasions.</p>
<p>Mount Holyoke (10-7, 4-4 NEWMAC) has secured a spot in the NEWMAC Semifinals, where they will face off against second seeded MIT at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both Semifinal Round contests will be hosted by top seeded Wellesley College.</p>
