Larson-Koester Named "Lyon of the Week"
First year indoor track and field team member Miriam Larson-Koester has been named “Lyon of the Week” for the week of January 26-February 1. Larson-Koester helped Mount Holyoke to an eighth place finish at the Wheaton College Invitational on Saturday. She established new personal bests in both the weight throw and the shot put. Her distance of 11.68 meters in the weight throw was good for fourth place overall. She then recorded a toss of 11.00 meters in the shot put to nab third place. Larson Koester has been dominant in both field events in all three of Mount Holyoke’s competitions this winter. In the season opener at Smith College, she qualified for the NCAA Division III New England Regional Championship with her fifth place throw of 10.75 meters in the shot put. She then took home second place out of 28 competitors in the shot put (10.74 meters) at the Wesleyan University Cardinal Invitational. She also fared well in the weight throw, finishing in eighth place (10.85).
