


<p><font size=4><span class=pagetitle>Indoor Track and Field Has Strong Showing at Wesleyan</span></font></p>

<p>MIDDLETOWN, Conn. (December 4, 2006) - The indoor track and field team ran extremely well over the weekend at Wesleyan. Three Mount Holyoke runners qualified for the New England Division III Championships in February. Sixteen MHC athletes set personal records.</p>

<p>Junior Grace Zeigler had two impressive performances, finishing second in the long jump (16'2.5") and fourth in the 55m (7.80). Both marks qualified her for the Division III New Englands meet. Jess Brezicha '10 began her rookie career with a solid performance in the high jump, jumping 4'5.5", and placing tenth overall. She ran the 55HH in 9.75s for a PR to advance to finals. She then took off a startling 0.26s in the finals to steal earn second place honors. The 4 x 200m team ran to a third place finish, narrowly behind Division III powerhouse, Springfield College.</p>


<p>Captain Stephanie Albero tallied a personal record in the 55m race (8.38). She was joined by Gretchen Sminkey, who set PRs in both the shot put (31'3") and weight throw (37'8.5", 4th place), and Malai Tananone, who set PRs in the 55HH (9.56, 3rd place) and Long Jump  (15'5", 5th place). Tananone's 55IH time also qualifies her for the Division III New Englands.  Andi Villasenor threw a 34'9.75" shot to capture 3rd place.</p>
