Indoor Track and Field Fares Well at Tufts
MEDFORD, Mass. (January 20, 2007) - Senior Andi Villasenor reset the indoor school shot put record for the second week in a row with a distance of 36'6.75". Her throw ranked her fourth in the compeitition at the Tufts Invitational.
In a field of 16 teams, the Lyons took 11th place behind strong performanced from the throwing squad. Behind Villasenor, Hillary Haber finished 8th in the shot put, registering a new personal record (PR) of 32'00 even. Senior Gretchen Sminkey, sophomore Chelsean McCracken, and senior Shannon Graham all recorded PR's in the event as well. In the Weight Throw, Gretchen Sminkey finished in fifth place (11.04m).
In her first time competiting in the Triple Jump, first year Jessica Brezicha recorded a distance of 31'6.25", good enough for eigth place in the event. Brezicha also captured a 6th place finish in the 55m hurdles with a time of 9.57. In other running events, junior Grace Zeigler finished 6th in the 55m dash while junior Meghan Lynch recorded a time 19:41.34 in the 5000m run to capture 8th place.
The Indoor Track and Field team travels to Middletown, Conn. on January 27, 2007 to compete in the Wesleyan Invitational.
