


<p><font size=4><span class=pagetitle>Track and Field Fares Well at Div. III's</span></font></p>

<p>SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (May 5, 2007) - Despite injuries, the Lyons fared well at the Division III New England Championship hosted by Springfield College this weekend. Senior Andi Villasenor captured the Lyons' only point, earning eighth place in the shot put event. Villasenor's throw registered a distance of 37'03.25" (11.36m). Junior Grace Zeigler placed 10th in the long jump, recording a mark of 15'11.5". Zeigler also dashed a season-best pace in the 100 meter event, but narrowly missed the finals. Malai Tananone '07 also ran well in the 400 meter hurdles, crossing the line with a time of 1:08.1. Tananone earned 10th place in the event. In the 100 meter hurdles, first year Erica Buchinski ran an impressive 17.4. The 4 x 100 meter team, consisting of Charisse Pickron, Erica Buchinski, Natasha Payes, and Ebony Williams, performed extremely well in their event. </p>

<p>The Lyons will rest up and prepare for the ECAC Championships in two weeks where eight MHC athletes have qualified to compete.  </p>
