


<p><font size=4><span class=pagetitle>Squash Sweeps Amherst, 9-0</span></font></p>

<B>AMHERST, Mass. (Jan. 17, 2008) -</B> The Mount Holyoke College women's squash team breezed to a convincing 9-0 triumph over Amherst College this afternoon at the Davenport Courts. With the win, the Lyons improved their season record to 5-1. The Lord Jeffs dropped to 5-5 on the year. 
<BR><BR>
Mount Holyoke dropped just two games on the day. The Lyons were paced by junior <B>Pamela Anckermann (Guatemala City, Guatemala/Monte Alto)</B>, who took all 27 points in her number one contest against senior Libby Martin (St. Louis, Mo.). 
<BR><BR>
First year <B>Vidushi Gurunada (Colombo, Sri Lanka/Lyceum Int'l School)</B>, junior <B>Menusha Hettiarachchi (Colombo, Sri Lanka/Holy Family Convent)</B>, sophomore <B>Laura Robinson (Paget, Bermuda/Saltus Grammar School)</B>, senior <B>Elizabeth Wright (Lexington, Mass./Phillips Exeter)</B>, sophomore Kasia Kolodziejczak (Storrs, Conn./Pomfret School)</B> and sophomore <B>Hillela Simpson (Seattle, Wash./Seattle Academy)</B> also picked up 3-0 wins for the guests.

The most competitive matches were at the fifth and seventh slots. Mount Holyoke players came out on top 3-1 in both instances. 
<BR><BR>
In the number five match, sophomore <B>Laurian Lue Yen (Kingston, Jamaica/St. Paul's (N.H.))</B> faced off against junior Melissa Moulton (Oreland, Pa.). After splitting the first two games, Lue Yen took the next two to secure things. 
<BR><BR>
Senior <B>Pia Seth (Bombay, India/Cathedral & John Connon)</B> grabbed an early 2-0 edge in her contest against junior Laureal LaMontagne (Moraga, Calif.) at the seventh position. She fell in the third game but rebounded to take the fourth.
<BR><BR>
Mount Holyoke (5-1) will take the courts again on Saturday, when it participates in the Yale University round robin. The Lyons will face off against Bates College at 9:00 a.m. and Bowdoin College at 4:00 p.m.
