Lynch Grabs School Record at New England Championships
BOSTON, Mass. (March 1, 2008) - Senior Meghan Lynch (South Hadley, Mass./Holyoke Catholic) set a new school record in the 5,000-meter run this weekend at the New England Championships at the Boston University Track and Tennis Center. The Mount Holyoke runner took 13th place overall at the event, recording a time of 18:12.63. Her time was 24 seconds faster than her previous personal best and 12 seconds faster than the old program record.
Classmate Grace Zeigler (Oak Hill, Ill./Neuqua Valley) also participated in the competition, earning a 20th place finish in the long jump. She posted a distance of 4.87 meters (15'11").
Mount Holyoke will return to action next weekend, when it competes in Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC), hosted by Harvard University. The event will begin on Friday and run through Saturday.
