


<p><font size=4><span class=pagetitle>Demba and Lynch Excel at ECAC Championships</span></font></p>

<B>HARVARD, Mass. (March 8, 2008) -</B> Seven members of the Mount Holyoke College women's indoor track and field team participated in the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championships this weekend at Harvard University. Leading the way for the Lyons were seniors <B>Meghan Lynch (South Hadley, Mass./Holyoke Catholic)</B>, and <B>Halaina Demba (Harvard, Mass./Bromfield)</B>.

Lynch's time of 18:12.50 in the 5,000-meter run was a new school record and was good for 12th place overall. Meanwhile, Demba grabbed 14th place in the 1,000-meter run with a time of 3:06.70. It was the fastest time for a Mount Holyoke runner this year and a new personal record for Demba. Senior <B>Joan Meiners (Boulder, Colo./Boulder)</B> also participated in the 1,000-meter run, finishing 25th with a time of 3:14.03.

Senior <B>Grace Zeigler (Oak Hill, Ill./Neuqua Valley)</B> competed in two events, posting solid results in both. She recorded a distance of 5.02 meters to earn 15th place in the long jump. She also took 20th place (1:51.73) in the 4x220-yard relay along with teammates <B>Crystal Boateng</B>, <B>Charisse Pickron (Amherst, Mass./Amherst Regional)</B> and <B>Ebony Williams (Detroit, Mich./University Liggett)</B>.

The indoor track and field season has now been completed. Mount Holyoke's outdoor season will get underway on March 29 at the Westfield State College Invitational.
