Senior Trio Represents Outdoor Track and Field Team at ECAC Championships

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (May 16, 2008) - A trio of Mount Holyoke College women's outdoor track and field team members competed in the 2008 Eastern College Athletic Conference Division III Championships over the past two days at Springfield College. All three Lyons qualified for the event by way of their performances in preceding events this spring.

Halaina Demba (Harvard, Mass./Bromfield) was Mount Holyoke's top performer at the competition. She established a new personal best in the 1,500-meter run with time of 4:53.90. Demba placed 24th in the race this afternoon.

Senior Grace Zeigler (Oak Hill, Ill./Neuqua Valley) also competed for the Lyons today, grabbing 22nd place in the long jump with a distance of 4.90 meters. She previously earned NCAA Division III Regional All-American honors in the event by taking third place at the New England Regional Championships.

On Thursday, Meghan Lynch (South Hadley, Mass./Holyoke Catholic) raced to an 11th place finish in the 10,000-meter run. She posted a time of 39:33.02.

With the ECAC Championships now completed, Mount Holyoke's 2008 season has officially come to a close.
